TAGDev Program is committed to building a strong bond among the students in order to improve their performance. The program is focused in developing future leaders in the agricultural sector. To achieve this objective, the program uses a holistic approach to develop all rounded ag-leaders.
The Program organized for undergraduate training and team building activities on 29th – 30th October 2022 at Epashikino Resort in Gilgil. The event was meant to train the students on some of the 21st century skills to enhance their employability in the job market. As part of the program, team building activities were incorporated. The event brought together cohort 2 and 3 undergraduate students who are in their final year. The students were trained during the morning sessions and had bonding activities in the afternoons. The students were trained on professional cv writing, scouting for jobs, internship and opportunities for further studies, how to prepare for interviews and presentation skills, career guidance and personal branding. These topics were appropriate as they prepared the students for life after campus where they are going to the job world and will need these skills if they are to succeed. They were also taught on competencies like compromise, active listening, consulting teammates, and ceding control during the team building activities this was to show them that each group member contributes and plays a specific role, but teammates collectively own the results and hence the actions and decisions of one member can impact the outcome and affect the group at large.
Team building is important because it develops relationships and builds trust between team members which is aimed at infusing confidence and productivity. Groups that practice team building are more communicative and collaborative and adept at making collective decisions. The effects of team building can be powerful and long lasting and include stronger connections and deeper respect among teammates, as well as more resilient relationships. It also inspires adaptability and innovation and provides a sense of safety and belonging that empowers team members to take creative risks. The process can decrease conflict and boost morale and engagement, which may lead to increased loyalty hence high productivity.
